Always Tired

 

Are you always tired?  Can’t concentrate during the day?  Do you doze off, when everything gets slow? If you said yes to these questions, maybe there are some things you can do.

What Do I Check For?

 

If you are always tired, check to see:

 

1)      Are you getting enough sleep?  Your body needs about eight hours of sleep.  Any less and you may feel tired.

2)      Avoid coffee, cokes, and alcohol. These drinks can keep you awake.

3)      Drink plenty of water. Water is important to keep your body running. Have your last drink, three hours before bedtime.

4)      Exercise – take a walk before dinner to increase your energy.

5)      Have a Healthy Breakfast - to give you energy during the day.

Are You Still Tired?

 

With all of these changes, do you continue to be always tired? Maybe, there is something physically wrong. Your next step is to go see a doctor.

 

Your doctor should give you a complete physical examination.  This includes blood work, weight analysis and other tests, as necessary. Being always tired may be an underlying condition to something more serious.

 

If you are always tired, it could be caused by:

 

1)      Allergies and Hay Fever

2)      Anemia

3)      Depression

4)      Food Allergies

5)      Heart Disease

6)      Thyroid Condition

 

What is Sleep Apnea?

 

Sleep Apnea is a condition that affects more than one-third of the adults in the United States. Obese individuals generally have sleep apnea.  A throat muscle obstructs the airway tube during rest. The patient has erratic breathing, and sometimes the breathing stops. This patient never goes into a deep sleep, and as a result, they are always tired during the day.

 

What is a CPAP Machine?

 

The patient is given a machine called a CPAP that pumps air into the lungs. Many patients notice the relief, the very first night. It is great to not feel always tired, and to have a good night’s sleep. 

 

You are not out of the woods yet. As you lose weight, you may need another CPAP machine. Your body is changing and the machine has to, too.

 

What is Narcolepsy?

 

After this, if you are still always tired, you may have a sleep disability called Narcolepsy. Here, the nerves of the brain do not react with the function of Sleep. Narcolepsy is hereditary, someone in your family falls asleep suddenly and they are always tired.

 

For your condition, you will have to be diagnosed by a doctor. Narcolepsy can be treated. Your always tired days are almost over.

 

What is Cataplexy?

 

One form of Narcolepsy is Cataplexy. For a girl, this usually begins during puberty – twelve to thirteen years old. Stress or a shock could cause Cataplexy.  A joke is told in class, and the young lady collapses. She wakes up twenty to twenty-five minutes later.  A doctor can diagnose cataplexy – it is a treatable condition.

 

 

What Can I Eat?

 

To cure that “Always Tired” condition, you need to start eating healthy and exercising. Take a multivitamin for that healthy lifestyle. Magnesium should also be taken to add energy.

 

Your healthy diet should include lots of fruits and vegetables. You can also eat whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes and avocados. When you are always tired, these foods give you energy.

 

Can I Do It?

 

It is not impossible. If you are always tired, there is relief. Just make a few simple changes to your life style, see your doctor, eat healthy and exercise. You can do it.
