What is Cycling?
Cycling is the use of bicycles for
transport, recreation or for sporting events. Cycling is also called bicycling or biking.
Cycling also includes riding unicycles, tricycles and Quadra cycles.
How Can I Workout With My Cycle?
Cycling is an aerobic exercise; your body is constantly in motion.
With Cycling, you can accomplish distances. Whether you are going around town, through a city or traveling
between cities, you have a different view at each turn.
You can add to your cycling workout, by
going up and down hills, traveling on different surfaces (dirt, gravel, etc.) and extending your route. You can
burn more calories by adding speed to your ride. Cycling can help you to lose weight and tone your body.

What about the Stationary Bike?
The Stationary Bike is very popular at Fitness Centers. Walkers, runners, and
bicyclists all use the Stationary Bike. The Stationary Bike has cycling programs for the
beginner, for endurance training and for losing weight. Here, cyclists can train for
longer rides.
In some fitness centers, you can watch the television, while working out on the
Stationary Bike. Cyclists can listen to music or watch the news, while they are cycling.
Time goes by fast, while you are burning calories.
What Are Spinning Classes?
Spinning Classes are taught at Fitness Centers. The Cyclists have a
one hour session, set to music. Here, the songs try to inspire you, through a difficult workout and a great
cycling venture.
How Intense, Should My Workout Be?
When using a Stationary Bike, try to get your Heart Rate up to your Target Heart Rate.
The Target Heart Rate is 50% to 80% of your Maximum Heart Rate. Cyclists can burn a lot of energy on these
Stationary Bikes.
Indoor workouts are intense. Have water with you, when you are using a Stationary
Bike. Indoor cycling can cause a lot of sweating and dehydration. So,
carry that water with you.

What Else Can I Learn About the Stationary Bikes?
Indoor cycling is great for athletes
recovering from knee injuries. Stationary Bikes have a low impact to the joints. Thus, indoor
cycling is used for various rehabilitation programs.
Before you begin cycling on a stationary bike, you need to adjust the saddle angle,
seat height, handlebars and pedal straps. You can move the seat forward and back. Make sure that you are
comfortable. Now you are ready!
What is a Recumbent Bike?
Another type of Stationary Bike is a Recumbent Bike. Here, you sit
on a seat and your legs stretch out in front of you. These bikes are great for cyclists with knee injuries,
as this bike has low impact on the knees.
What Causes Injuries?
Most injuries, for cyclists, are caused by bad adjustments. Knee pain can be
associated with the back seat being too high or too low. Neck pain can be caused by having
the handlebars too low. Cyclists need to check the adjustments to prevent injuries.
Make sure that you are wearing the right shoes. Soft sole shoes are not good for
cycling. For the Stationary Bike, sneakers or your workout shoes are excellent for
cycling.
What Can Cycling Do For You?
Cycling is fun. Try a stationary bike to prepare for a bike ride or running outside.
You can burn a lot of calories indoors that can help you lose weight and tone your body.
